Plantics in discussion with ministers on bio-based building

Plantics in gesprek met ministers over biobased bouwen.

Last Thursday, August 17, an inspiration session was held in The Hague. The topic: how can we accelerate bio-based building in the Netherlands, using Dutch natural fibers and products with those natural fibers?

Plantics was invited to represent the producers of bio-based materials. Our CEO Wridzer Bakker joined a discussion with ministers Hugo de Jonge (Housing and Spatial Planning) and Piet Adema (Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality) and State Secretary Vivianne Heijnen (Infrastructure and Water Management). Other various representatives from the chain (banks, pension funds, farmers, fiber processors, construction companies) also participated in the conversation.

Concrete steps toward the future
The participants sparred with each other for 2.5 hours. Bakker: “We created a plan with concrete steps towards the future. Furthermore, we talked about how to mobilize financial resources for this plan.” Some of these resources have already been acquired. This concerns EUR 200 million.

Bio-based building materials in practice
Plantics’ bio-based building materials are already being tested in practice. Discover how they are being applied in this Plantics video.

In the Netherlands, the ‘National Approach to Biobased Building’ (NABB) is leading to a new national market for large-scale cultivation, processing and application of biobased building materials.
