‘Plantics is the best for an internship’

Student Martijn had a hard time finding an internship for his chemical-physical analyst studies. His teacher at Rijn IJssel in Arnhem tipped Plantics off. The internship in 2023 went so well that Martijn is now employed by Plantics.

‘I am very happy that I accidentally got an internship at Plantics. In retrospect, I think this internship suited me much better than the companies I initially wanted to go to. I really get fulfillment out of my work here,’ Martijn explains. ‘Moreover, I am working on a product that is important for a cleaner future.’

Different disciplines

During his internship, Martijn gained experience in both chemical analysis and physical testing of Plantics materials. ‘As a result, I was involved in almost all the teams within Plantics. This gave me a good idea of the different disciplines of the company.’

10 on the exam

For the practical internship, Martijn had to take a comprehensive exam at his internship site. ‘I was tested on the execution of my work. I also had to make several reports, both on the company and on the analyses. I completely worked out optimizing my analysis technique.’ Martijn continues enthusiastically, ‘This was really the best internship I have ever had. Thanks to the good supervision everything ran like clockwork, I finished all the work on time. And I even got a 10 on my exam, that’s the highest grade you can get.’

Ask questions

‘The most important thing I’ve learned is “tomorrow’s a new day”. If something doesn’t seem to succeed, you often go on a little longer to get it done anyway. But the next day you succeed much better, with new energy and a fresh outlook.’ What he would like to tell future Plantics trainees: ‘Don’t be afraid to ask your colleagues. They are always willing to answer your questions, and you really learn a lot from that.’

Good recommendation

‘This internship was a big difference from my former internship. At both internships, they kind of let me go. But here my supervisors knew immediately if I was struggling with something. And they were there for me right away. And everyone here is really nice, I experienced that differently at another internship. I warmly recommend Plantics as an internship.’
