About the role
As medior/senior R&D engineer at Plantics you will collaborate closely with our R&D team (ca. 20 researchers), the R&D Manager, and the Director of Technology and Projects. You will be working on product and process development projects, in explorative as well as commercial stages. Your core activities as medior/senior R&D Engineer include:
- Improve the existing technologies and manufacturing processes used at Plantics and our partners, and implement new techniques to manufacture different composite products
- Develop new materials, products and processes to widen Plantics’ product range. This ranges from creating proof-of-concepts in the lab, to scaling up, to a pilot line and eventually towards full production implementation
- Advice production for establishing high quality products according to market specifications and/or customers’ demands
- Provide technical guidance to the different functional areas involved (e.g. production, business development, purchasing) to carry on production of current materials and implement new ones
- Communicate about status/progress of projects with R&D teams and other departments
The product and process development projects are always centered around achieving creative market propositions in combination with our Plantics Bioresin and/or our Biocomposites.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a medior/senior R&D Engineer with a strong background in either chemical or mechanical engineering in a relevant field for Plantics’ processes and products. You should be able to apply your knowledge cross-disciplinary over various research and development projects. Based on your experience level coaching and/or development towards expertise leader within Plantics for one or more specific technologies, materials and/or products will be encouraged.
- Education: Minimum BSc, preferably MSc or PhD with a background in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering studies in the field of process or materials sciences.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years experience in a relevant field such as processing of composites, natural fibers, polymer applications, moulding, extrusion and/or curing technologies, more senior experience can be a pre.
- Technical skills: Hands-on experience in developing processes from lab to pilot to production
- Passion for sustainability: A strong commitment to working on renewable materials and sustainable solutions.
When will your role be a success?
Your contributions will be found back in successful technology development from lab to scaling and implemented towards production, whether at Plantics or one of our strategic partners. Over time you will take the lead in driving the development projects and/or develop yourself more towards a specific technology, product or market expertise.

Together with our partners we strife to bring new sustainable products to the market. For example, together with VEPA we developed a beautiful new chair (called Hemp Fine), produced from hemp-fibers and our plant-based resin.
